Health and Fitness / CBS Scoring Rubrics Explained: If you have any questions comments or concerns, please feel free to email me at pittsma@puyallup.k12.wa.us4 This equals 100 – 86% percent on an assessment: As long as the student receives an 86% or better on any assessment, it will count for full points on the grading scale. The student has clearly proven that he/she understand the information on the assessment and they are awarded full points.Example: Johnny received a 26/30 on his Circulatory System assessment, which accumulates to 86.67%. On a 100 point scale normally Johnny would receive 87 out of 100 points, but on this Standards Base Scale Johnny will receive 100 points for his percentage (%) falling within the category 4 range.Clarification: Whatever range a student’s percentage (%) accumulates to, they receive the maximum points possible from the section.3 – Percentile (%) Range is 85 thru 71%: No matter were the student is falling in the percentile range, you will always receive the maximum amount of points possible for the category. Maximum total points awarded in the 3 range will be 85 on the 100 point scale. This rule works for all of the numbers, but category 1: 55 – 40% range. Category “1” does have an exception.
The Exception: If a student was
to miss an assessment he/she will fall inside category 1: 55
– 40% percent, with the students who tested at this level.
Many students miss days of school, have missing assignments or have
been at school during the intellectual discussions which allow them
to succeed on assessments. This is why I award
the student the points for being present in class and
contributing to discussions, classroom work and presentations until
they have the time to assess/reassess and have reviewed the
information for the assessment. Because you can not distinguish between a low test
score and a missing assessment, the missing assessment will receive
a 40%. While students that test at this level will receive a
55%. Remember, “Students can assess/reassess
anytime throughout a semester for full
credit.”
