WELCOME TO GLACIER VIEW
WELCOME TO LIFE ISSUES

Hello, my name is Valerie Barabe and I will be your student’s Life Issues teacher this year. I would like to take a moment to introduce myself, as we will be building a partnership together to bring your student’s optimal success this year.

I am a proud Cougar Alumni! I received my teaching certificate from Washington State University where I also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. I am excited to be back at Glacier View and bring with me a great deal of experience working with a variety of community and student-based organizations, which complements my commitment to student leadership and engagement in the community.

When I'm not busy teaching and spending time with my new baby, Tatum, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, listening to a wide range of music, going to concerts, comedy shows, and cheering on my favorite sports teams. GO HAWKS, GO COUGS!

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s education and goals. Together, we can make this year a productive and important one!

I am best reached by email as I can respond to that throughout the day and more efficiently : barabeva@puyallup.k12.wa.us. I am also able to be reached by phone before school and after school until 3PM during the week: 253-840-8922

HOW I USE MY TEACHERWEB

I use my teacherweb to inform you about upcoming assignment, events and activities that are planned. Please be aware that this is a resource for students and parents and I expect students to use it in order to get additional copies and use as a tool if they are absent.

Please note the various sections on the left hand side:

Announcements: When I need to communicate upcoming events, when grades are posted for projects, and when deadlines are approaching this is where to find it.

Documents: I post all my activities that are electronic into this section. There are 3 sections: Leadership (for leadership students), and Life Issues and Job Shadow (for Life Issue students).

Events: Post a general schedule of events and due dates, FCCLA activities and school events.

Grades: Your link to view your students grade. It is updated every night. This is a great tool to make sure you have all your work in.

Links: Helpful links that provide additional resources students may be interested in and use to complete assignments.
