Welcome to Room
16! Home of the Greatest Kids in Puyallup!!!!
My name is Lynn Hamilton, and I will be your child's
fifth grade teacher for the 2010/2011 school year. I'm
looking forward to a terrific year filled with learning, field
trips, clubs and activities, sports, and fun! I believe
school should be a positive place where kids feel happy, safe, and
learn in a comfortable environment. I will do my best to
provide this for your child!
This is my 24th year of teaching, and my 13th year at
Spinning. I was a graduate of Colfax High School and received
my education degree from Washington State University! GO
COUGS! I received my masters from Lesley College in
Massachusetts and have taken many classes since to enhance my
teaching skills. Personally, I have two terrific kids of my
own who attend WSU. I love reading, exercising, visiting family and
friends, and going out to eat!
Here are some classroom expectations that your child will
accomplish this year!
Accelerated Reader:
In fifth grade all students are required to earn 50 points each
trimester. This can be done through books they have read,
books read at school together, or books read by me.
Homework:
Most homework is given one day and due the next. The
exception to this is spelling packets. Students will receive
their spelling packets on Mondays and turn them in
on Thursdays. A test will be given on Friday over the
words for the week. Writing assignments, reports, and big
projects are given more days and deadlines will be listed in
student planners and on the homework section in this web site.
Classroom Behavior:
Basically, I run my classroom on the principles of the three
Rs!
Respect
Responsibility
Reasonable
The classroom is a place where learning needs to take place.
This can only be done in an area where students are respectful of
each other and adults. Students must be responsible to be
prepared for class, complete assignments, and have good
behavior.
